Family Intervention Project
What Is the Family Intervention Project?
The Family Intervention Project (FIP) is a scheme designed to turn around the anti-social
behaviour of families and reduce their impact on their community, in order to create
stronger, sustainable and safer neighbourhoods. In doing so the Project as a whole
brings stability to families’ lives, prevents homelessness and improves opportunities
for children and young people in health, education and employment. The project supports
and challenges these families to address the causes of their anti-social behaviour
and restore safety to their homes and the wider community.
The Gedling FIP Team Gedling Homes has a small dedicated FIP team that form part
of a wider team of FIP workers from the Mansfield and Ashfield FIP team of Nottinghamshire
County Council. We work very closely with all our partners to ensure we are able
to deliver the best possible service to the families we engage with.
Who can benefit from FIP?
Families at risk of losing their home because of anti-social behaviour, who are
experiencing multiple problems, have children aged 16 and under in the household
and who are tenants in the Gedling area, are typical of the sort of family who can
benefit from support from our FIP team.
How can FIP help you?
- Do you struggle to get your children up in the morning and out of the house for
school?
- Do your children stay out late at night when you do not want them to?
- Would you like to know more about the activities in your area for children?
- Does it seem like your neighbours are constantly complaining about you and your
family?
- Do you want support in finding a job?
- Are you at risk of losing your home?
The above are just a few of the things which can cause you to worry and affect you,
your family and your local community.
The Family Intervention Project team can work with you to teach you skills and techniques
to remedy these problems and help improve the behaviour of your family so that you
can remain in your home and work towards a happier future.
Families who have worked with FIP have benefitted from
- Help to sustain and manage their tenancy
- Increased attendance at school and higher academic achievement for their children
- Increased support from other agencies to help with any issues they have faced, eg
financial difficulties, substance misuse, domestic abuse and any other support needs
If you think our FIP team may be able to help you with any problems similar to those
described above or if have any other questions about FIP then please contact us
on 0115 9051515 and ask for Gedling Homes Tenancy Services team or e mail us on
