Paying your rent
Keeping your home is a priority, so paying your rent is one of those things that has to be done. Gedling Homes has a wide range of rent payment options that you can choose from.
Post Office, PayPoint and PayZone
Payments can be made at any Post Office free of charge, using a Housing Payment Swipe Card. You can also make payments at any PayPoint or PayZone outlet using the same card. The swipe card service is administered for us by Tameside Council and you can order a card by
following this link. Housing Payment Swipe card. Alternatively you can ring us on 0115 9051515 and ask for Gedling Homes Revenues Team to order a payment card.

PayZone websites by following these links. In addition to information about both these schemes you will be able to find your nearest outlets by entering your post code or address.
Civic Centre Cash Office, Arnold
PLEASE NOTE - Gedling Homes will not be using this facility to collect their payments with effect from 31st March 2011. The Cash Office will remain open for Gedling Borough Council to collect its own payments.
Standing Order/Direct Debit
Payments should be made from your bank account via a standing order or direct debit. To pay this way please ring us on 0115 9051515 and ask for our Rents Team or email us at

By post
Payments can be made by cheque or postal order via the post. Remember to write your name, address and account number on the reverse of the cheque or postal order.
Please make cheques payable to GEDLING HOMES if paying by post.
Rent collector
For our elderly and vulnerable tenants, our rent collector can call and collect your rent once a fortnight on a set day of the week.

Telephone payments
You can also make payments over the phone by using your Debit Card. Contact the payment line on
0161 331 2224 to pay this way.
Online over the Internet
You can pay your rent online through BillPay, which is a service provided by Santander.
Gedling Homes' has provided the service in conjunction with Santander to offer a free service to pay bills 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The BillPay service allows payment by Debit and Credit Cards.
If you are using the service for the first time you will have to register your details and have the bills that you wish to pay to hand, as you will require the payment reference numbers.
You can also view the payment requests that you have made on-line over the previous 12 months.

When you are asked to register, you need to choose the company you wish to pay to. Gedling Homes is part of the New Charter Housing Trust Group, you should therefore choose New Charter Housing from the list available.
The following payment methods are accepted.

Housing Benefit
If you are on a low income you may be entitled to receive help towards the cost of your rent through Housing Benefit. Please contact
GEDLING BOROUGH COUNCIL on 0115 901 3970 and speak to the Benefit Team or call in to the Gedling Borough Council offices at the Civic Centre, Arnot Hill Park, Arnold, for more advice.
Welfare Benefits Advice
Gedling Homes has a dedicated Welfare Benefits Advisor who can help you claim any benefits you may be entitled to. Please ring us on 0115 9051515 and ask for our Rents Team to arrange an appointment or email

Reasons to avoid rent arrears
Failure to pay rent on time is a serious breach of your tenancy agreement. Gedling Homes may take legal action to recover money owed to us and this may result in you losing your home. If we take court action against you, you will also be liable for the cost we incur.
