Tenant involvement

Gedling Homes believes that by working in partnership with our tenants, we can continue to provide good quality, tenant-led services. As a tenant of Gedling Homes you know better than anyone what kind of services you are receiving and what can be done to improve them. Through the provision of excellent services and resources our tenants and staff can continue to form an effective partnership to help shape services and tailor our work directly to meet your needs.

Aims of tenant involvement

Gedling Homes believes that through effective tenant involvement our tenants will support us in delivering our values, by
  • guiding us to provide the best possible service to all our tenants.
  • assisting in the development and promotion of mixed and sustainable communities.
  • promoting equality and diversity throughout our services.
  • increasing levels of satisfaction through effective monitoring.
  • keeping our tenants informed of all the services we provide.
  • assisting the development of effective consultation methods.
  • ensuring that we provide value for money across all areas of our service delivery.
  • ensuring continuous improvement across our services.

How can I get involved?

Gedling Homes has a range of flexible involvement methods enabling you to be involved at a level which suits your individual needs. These are summarised here. Please follow this link to view our Tenant Involvement Statement which was developed in consultation with our residents.

Tenant Board Members

One third of our board is made up from tenants who have been selected to provide a tenants’ perspective at the highest level. Tenant Board Members are involved in strategic, high-level decision making and help ensure that there is a tenant focus to our policies and procedures. These individuals help shape the future direction of Gedling Homes.

Tenant Consultation Panel

The Tenant Consultation Panel is a group which looks at policies and procedures across the services Gedling Homes provide. This group provides a mechanism for tenants to shape our policies and procedures by making recommendations to senior managers. It also gives tenants the opportunity to meet with senior managers regularly.

Tenant Voices

Tenants who have expressed an interest in influencing policies and procedures, and the design and delivery of services can sign up to our Tenant Voices Initiative. Through this initiative tenants can give us their views using a variety of methods to suit their individual needs, for example, via post, e-mail or on the phone. Members of the Tenant Voices will also be invited to attend focus groups which look at Gedling Homes services. Please follow this link to sign up to Tenant Voices.

Service Improvement Panels

Service Improvement Panels are panels which have been specifically formed to review and monitor individual services and make recommendations to ensure continuous improvement and that services are customer focused. Tenants are invited to share their experiences in relation to service provision. These panels are formed by members of existing Tenants and Residents Groups, members of the Tenant Consultation Panel, Tenant Inspectors and individuals who have signed up to our Tenant Voices initiative.

Tenant Inspectors

These are tenants recruited by Gedling Homes to monitor the services we provide. The inspectors sit on the Service Improvement Panels and receive information in relation to performance data. They are involved in monitoring the performance of Gedling Homes. The inspectors also workshadow Gedling Homes staff and consult with tenants to ensure that services are delivered to a high standard.

Tenant Sounding Board

The Tenant Sounding Board provides an editorial resource for information and documents which we send out to tenants. They ensure that the information we send out is relevant clear and concise.

Tenant Involvement Strategy

Gedling Homes have developed the Tenant Involvement Strategy with tenants to guide the work our team does. A copy of this strategy can be found be following this link: Tenant Involvement Strategy 2010/11
