Paying your rent

These are the questions we are asked most frequently at our Customer Contact Centre.

How can I pay?

Click on this link to read details of the ways you can pay your rent.

Where can I pay?

Click this link for details of Post Offices, Paypoints and Payzones where you can pay your rent.

You can also pay your rent by cheque at our Customer Contact Centre in the Civic Centre, Arnot Hill Park, Arnold, Nottingham NG5 6LU.

Will my direct debit automatically be increased if and when necessary?

Your direct debits are only updated and recalculated annually when there is a rent increase. If you received housing benefit and there are changes in the amount you received you must let us know in order to make an adjustment, unlike payments by Standing Order where you would have to speak with your bank to get your payments changed.

When are the rent free weeks this year?

There are 4 rent free weeks each year. They are the first week of April, the last week of August and the last two weeks of December.

Will my insurance cover be affected if I am in arrears?

If you have signed up to our Home Contents Insurance scheme it is important that you keep your rent account clear as you will not be able to make an insurance claim if you have any arrears.

How do I find out about Housing Benefit?

The easiest way to find out if you are eligible for Housing Benefit is to complete our online benefits checker. You could also contact the Housing Benefit department at Gedling Borough Council directly on 0115 9013970 who will be happy to help.
