Ways To Pay

Your home is at risk if you do not pay your rent.

Gedling Homes has a wide range of rent payment options that you can choose from.

Here are the ways you can pay your rent. You can also download our ‘How to pay your rent’ leaflet here.

Standing Order/Direct Debit

Standing Order and Direct Debit are the most effective ways for you to pay your rent. Once it is set up it is one less thing for you to worry about!

Payments can be made from your bank account via a standing order or direct debit. To pay this way please ring us on 0115 9051515 and ask for our Rents Team or email us at enquiries@gedlinghomes.co.uk

Post Office, PayPoint and PayZone


You can order a Housing Payment Swipe Card, which  can be used at the Post Office, free of charge, or at any PayPoint and PayZone outlet. The swipe card service is administered for us by Tameside Council. You can ring Revenues on 0115 905 1515 to order a payment card for you, or order a card yourself via the link below:

By phone (24 hours, 7 days a week)

You can pay over the phone 24 hours, 7 days a week. To do so you will need a debit or credit card. We can accept payments from the following cards:

Visa Electron

To make a payment, please call 0161 331 2224 and have your debit or credit card and payment reference number to hand. You will be guided through the process of making a payment.

Payment app

Gedling Homes customers can now pay rent straight from their mobile phones following the launch of a new payment app. The app is free to download from the Apple App Store, Google Play and on Windows phones using the links below. 

Step 1 – Download the app. There are a number of ways in which you can do this:

You will need…

Your Gedling Homes plastic payment card (if you can't find your card call us on 0161 331 2050 and we can help).  You will be asked for the long number across the middle of the card where it says ‘ Payment reference number’.

You will also need the bank card that you want to make payments from.

You will need to input a PIN number and a password so only you can access the app.

The payment should be in your account the next working day after you have made the payment via the app.  


You can pay online through the BillPay service which is provided by Santander.  This free service allows payment by debit and credit cards.  If you are using BillPay for the first time, you will have to register your details and you will require payment reference numbers for the bills you are going to pay.

When you are asked to register, you need to choose the company you wish to pay to. Gedling Homes is part of the Jigsaw Group Group, you should therefore choose New Charter Housing from the list available.

By post

Payments can be made by cheque or postal order via the post. Remember to write your name, address and account number on the reverse of the cheque or postal order. Please make cheques payable to GEDLING HOMES if paying by post.

Rent collection

For our elderly and vulnerable tenants, our rent collector can call and collect your rent once a fortnight on a set day of the week. To pay this way please ring us on 0115 9051515 and ask for our Rents Team or email us at enquiries@gedlinghomes.co.uk.
